Sedih tatkala membaca berita tentang penghinaan yang dilakukan ke atas kitab suci orang Muslim iaitu Al-Quran. Pemimpin-pemimpin negara Islam telah mengutuk perbuatan ini. Di sebalik kesedihan ini, saya terbaca posting Shaykh Assim al-Hakeem di Twitter bertarikh 22 Januari 2023 yang memetik:
1- Burning the Quran and insulting the beliefs of 2 billion Muslims is becoming a trend. This is the second incident taking place in “civilized” European countries under the protection and approval of the authorities.
2- Why they are doing it doesn’t concern us as Muslims. What matters to us is how Muslims should behave. Such provocative actions are done only to make the hot blooded Muslims react in a negative way, portraying them as villains and violent primitive people from the Middle East!
3- When the local Muslims don’t react through destroying cars or attacking the police, all of such haters’ efforts go down the drain. Even if they burn all the copies of the Quran, it is preserved in our chests, memorized by tens of millions of Muslims all over the world.
4- The local Muslims must play their democratic game and ask officially to conduct seminars to demand their rights to teach their Muslim children chastity and decency and to allow Islamic schools and the freedom to wear the hijab.
5- Muslims of course will be faced by official refusal as such countries are not what they claim to be. Democracy is only sought after when it serves their own interests. Here is where Muslim lawyers duty comes in.
6- How can burning the Quran be freedom of expression while burning the LGBT flag a hate crime? To our local Muslim brothers and sisters in these countries I say: when a dog barks, do not fall down on your hands and knees and bark back!
Berinspirasikan kata-kata ini, saya berazam untuk memperbaiki hubungan saya dengan Al-Quran. Saya nak jadi antara jutaan Muslim yang menghafaz Quran. Semestinya, perubahan harus dimulai dengan diri sendiri.
Saya sebenarnya sedang merasa kecewa dan keliru kerana agama telah dipisahkan dari perkara-perkara lain seperti politik, pendidikan, ekonomi, sosial, pekerjaan dan sebagainya. Saya tidak berdaya untuk mempertahankan Islam dengan kata-kata.
Apa yang lebih penting adalah saya mahu menjaga hati ini dan keluarga saya agar tidak terpengaruh dengan angin liberalisasi dalam Islam. Hati saya sedih dan air mata mula mengalir merasa betapa lemahnya saya dalam mempertahankan agama sendiri.
Alhamdulillah, asbab saya membaca petikan ayat Shaykh Assim al-Hakeem, kesedihan saya terubat dan kerinduan pada Al-Quran semakin menebal. Perjalanan yang sangat panjang untuk saya dapat membaca dan memahami Quran dengan baik, tetapi saya yakin setiap usaha akan diberi pahala.
Semoga Al-Quran menjadi kawan baik dan saksi serta menemani saya di alam kubur nanti.
